MeowNames.com was built by Montreal-based amateur developer Colin Strachan.

Colin grew up with a cat named Poppy, and remembers the difficulty that his family had coming up with a name. Although there are a lot of blog articles and databases claiming to help people find names, they lack the functionality to help people find something meaningful and sentimental.

MeowNames.com was designed with the new kitten owner in mind. The idea was to create an experience that's fun and useful to new adopters. Although the MeowNames database includes thousands of names in different styles, the site has a 'curated' feel and a user experience that's designed to lead you to the perfect name.
